Spring Break 2006

Spring Break 2006: Last week, three of my good friends and I (Lindsey, Ebru and Elif) and 600 other national college students went on a spring break trip to the Mediterranean Coast. It ended up being a great trip and a really good time with friends. Here are some highlights:

1. Green Grass: Enjoying the green grass, trees, flowers, ocean, and BEACH!!! I kept on thinking: the grass is so GREEN!! It was so beautiful to me that I had tears in my eyes….wow, I guess it had been a long time since I had been in nature!!!

2. The 14 hour bus ride: This included trying to watch an American movie in another language, playing tavla, cards, talking, and trying to sleep. It was 14 hours each way!

3. ALL-INCULSIVE Hotel: We could eat whatever we wanted, have icecream all day long, swim in the pools, the ocean, play ping pong, tennis, soccer, ride a banna boat, go water skiing, go bike riding, and a lot of other things for FREE!!!

4. Really long meals. One of my favorite parts was that we would sit with our friends at meals for about two hours….We could just enjoy each others company and we got a lot of listening practice!

5. A Soccer Game: Have I mentioned that soccer is HUGE here!! It is very common for people to ask you which team do you cheer for because everyone cheers for someone. Imagine being on vacation and about one hundred or more people taking the time out to watch a soccer game. It was a really exciting match, and my team one! Go BESIKTAS!!

6. Karaoke: Karoake in another language..need I say more?

7. A Live Country Western Band: Okay, so it wasn't a real country band, but they did play country-like songs…We danced and even did a line-dance!
