This week was a religious holiday called Kurban Bayram in which many people sacrifice animals. When I ask my friends why they do this, some say it is to remember Abraham's sacrifice, some say it is to do a good deed, and others say it is in order to give food to the poor. I am told that people give 1/3 to the poor, 1/3 to neighbors, and keep 1/3 of it for themselves. We went to a huge place similar to Wal-mart where people buy the lambs, and have it killed, skinned, and the meat chopped up all in one tent. This is a picture of a lamb in a shopping cart before it is killed.
What a reminder of the TRUE Sacrifice!
